I visited there many times, and fortunately I did have a bad experience. Stayed at a resort over looking the beauty of the ocean on the stripe, I feel personally you have to take precautions everywhere you go even in the US you not safe. Yes the crime rate is very high very And yes in this country you would be afraid,if you link up with the right guide you will see this as a beautiful country that you hate to stay away from. People experiences are different be careful and stay safe in your travel's wherever you go.

I am 64 yrs old slightly built English lady, I was with a Jamacian guide walking to a Church, a young man with a young child game behind me a punched me hard 3 times on my shoulder, calling me vile filthy names and screaming obscenities at me. The locals just carried on about there business.
He then tracked me down in church for more abuse.
Enough said, that was my experience, decide for your self where to visit and spend your hard earned money.

Go anywhere else for vacation. People get raped or sexually harassed even in the resorts. The chance of an armed attack at a resort is high. This place is in a state of emergency.

Do not assume you are safe on the resorts. There have been several reports of rape and sexual assaults carried out by hotel security guards on some of the top resorts throughout Jamaica. Do not walk about the resorts alone at night. They are not safe.

This place is under a security lockdown, so avoid all unnecessary travel.
