Been living in Islamabad since 2000.

Crime rates are generally low (compared to other cities in Pakistan and worldwide). Violent crimes are almost unheard of (except, maybe for enmity cases). Assault, murder, rape, etc. are quite low. Even when robberies happen, they seldom turn violent.
Car theft is relatively higher (compared to other crimes) but still low. Similarly, Bribery/Corruption is somewhat high and an issue but still lower compared to other cities within Pakistan. Property crimes can be an issue outside CDA sectors and regulated societies, particularly in rural Islamabad or when you are dealing with "open letters" (not registering to avoid taxation). Hate or race crimes are almost non-existent now (back in 2008-15, there were terrorism issues but that is completely gone now).

After safe city project islamabad has become very safe police is more vigilant and crimes are very low. I lived in islamabad from 2009 to 2014 it was very unpleasant years but after imran khan become PM i returned back from germany and become shocked to see the changes. I dont have to goto police for fir. Online police portal is 24h available. Karachi which stood at 6 position in crime index today gone to 103 position. Remarkably imporvements have been made for this peace crime free environment all credit goes to pakistan army and IMRAN KHAN GOVT.

Ive been living in ISB for 40 + years. It is no longer safe. Every day people being looted at gun point in markets and roads and streets and now homes aren’t safe either. Masked armed men break in and abuse assault and threaten while collecting valuables and cash. If home isn’t safe anymore, where does 1 go? Crimes going unreported. There was armed robbery at my friends house in F10 at 1 am and at my neigbhors house in F-8 at 9pm and I saw 1 small minute clip on capital tv about crime and nothing in newspapers and as usual investigation is on going. What safe city? Be safe and vigilant

Armed robberies are becoming so common in Islamabad. Last two months two home invasions and armed robberies in F-10 and this month two in F-8. Islamabad no longer a safe city. Do not be ignorant and take your security for granted. Police seems genuinely disinterested to curb this in any way. And people still falsely believing Islamabad a safe city.

I am living in Islamabad from last 8 years.
Reporter you just give me one report of robbery.
Only car theft is little problem but due to security cameras this problem is gone minimum.
Someday come here and judge the ground

Jalal Khan Alizai on Dec 13, 2019:
The crime situation has worsened in Islamabad for last few months. Not a day passes without some major crime occurring here. sense of safety and security is going down very fast. Islamabad police needs to work hard to ensure that major gangs operating in Islamabad are arrested and properly prosecuted. Media gimmicks should be avoided !

Sada Malik: me and my family was shifted to Islamabad in 1978 when my father transferred from Karachi to Islamabad. Since than we are living there, it was very peaceful city until Gen. Musharraf era 1999. Afterward problem was started, now a days street robbery, home broken, car stolen, assaults and harassing women in street is very common. Specially motor cyclists are much threat to pedestrians by snatching pursues, mobile phones, jewellery and looting on gun points by youngers drug addicted. Walking alone after dark is not recommended and leaving car parking in street and main gate unlock any time is dangerous.
