Crime in Islamabad, Pakistan

Islamabad Citizen (Must read Before Going/Living Islamabad).

Islamabad is Capital of Pakistan but things are very different from this survey.
Crime : Crime is Highly but its mostly targeted (so murders, high profiles cases occur but only very specific and mostly amount rivalries)

Safety: Its generally safe at day time and crowded places but snatching /robberies are very common now a days. At once in life time every family member will suffer from robberies / snatching phone and money. So, please dont walk alon at night and less crowded places, go in groups and possibly along with males.

Police : Police is generally corrupt and ready to take bribes if you got influenced. But dont offer them bribe openly because bribe laws are very strict but behind the scene even high ranking officers are ready to take bribe. If you find your self in such position offer them bribe politely or stand against them if you belong to strong background (financially and media wise).In Pakistan police is like prostitutes , have money and power do whatever you want .Otherwise be ready for unseen troubles.If something happened to you like robbery / theft 99 % chances police will take bribe to even write your report and address your issue or overseen your problem at all.They dont care unless your an high-profile person.They will blame you if something happened to you.Aleays keep this in mind .(In Pakistan , Police is not your friend its bribe industry only)

Racism: You will not experience racism unless you are putting yourself in very different situation i mean extreme( abusing someone , flexing without reason)

Public /Youth: General public and Youth is warm and welcoming .They are ready to help you if you ask for assistance or stuck somewhere . Some back ships are still there, if they found your guest /new to the area they can try to influence you or take benefit from you.Always make conscious decisions.
Shopping : Be careful while shopping on cheap stores or shopes, because sometime they will come to fight if visiting their shop you didnt buy anything.They will try to intimidate you to buy .Try to look at their behaviour and professionalism before visiting their products. With basic face reading and gut feelings you can judge that they will treat yiu better .

I have been living in Islamabad for fourteen years now and grew up here. Until about ten years ago or slightly earlier I used to cycle outside without fear even at night but now things have changed for the worst really fast. Casual snatchings are already quite common but gangs have up their game by robbing hospitals and restaurants in the city with dozens of victims being robbed at once. There is no one in this city who doesn't know a victim of snatching in Islamabad.

It is time for law enforcement agencys to step in against street gangs especially in i 10 . Shootings have become common there

Overall, Islamabad has seen a massive surge in crime rate in the last 3 years. Such incidents are not shown on the mainstream media as they think this would tarnish the capitals image but in my view strict and acute measures should be taken in order to bring this down. Islamabad Police is hella corrupt. Drugs are common in Sabzi Mandi(I-10), Pirwadhai, Tarnol, Koral areas. I-10, tramari, khannapul. tarnol have become ghettos with constant robberies , drug dealings, fights, gangs . If this goes on i am sad to declares but definitely islamabad will become Karachi.

There must be checkpoints near i 10 and i 9 for the purpose of busting the street gangs there
it has adopted some kind of hood culture it must be eliminated big criminals live in i 10

I m living in abudhabi. On 28april 2022 my son car no AKK-021. Hunda civic was theft from banigala about 1130am from building parking. Complaint has made to police station Banigala. All the road cameras are not working. Islamabad is not safe place for living may be i bring back my son to Abudhabi. Businiss in islamabad is not safe

I have been living in Islamabad since 1992. The city has significantly changed during past 10 years. The crime rate is very high now days. Mobile theft, street crimes and car theft is very high. This city is no longer safe. The main problem is that crimes don't get reported due to poor system of police. FIR are not registered as police don't cooperate in such matters.

After safe city project islamabad has become very safe police is more vigilant and crimes are very low. I lived in islamabad from 2009 to 2014 it was very unpleasant years but after imran khan become PM i returned back from germany and become shocked to see the changes. I dont have to goto police for fir. Online police portal is 24h available. Karachi which stood at 6 position in crime index today gone to 103 position. Remarkably imporvements have been made for this peace crime free environment all credit goes to pakistan army and IMRAN KHAN GOVT.
