I am a tourist and I think Denver is a nice city. Sure, the air smells of marijuana, and there are hippies wherever you go, but there is lots to do in this vibrant and beautiful city.

Yep, I agree.
In some parts of the neighborhoods, gunshots go off every month, in other parts of town it's pristine and clean.
