In 2016 before Philippine election I saw Davao City in #4 safest city to live in the world. Why I don't see Davao now out of 226 cities.
anton on Aug 13, 2019:
-According to the Philippine National Police, Davao City is number 1 for rapes and number one for murders in the Philippines.
This is propaganda based on way-too-proud people who live here in Davao, who want people to think their city is safe, so they all come here to vote.
In my fancy subdivision, a woman was raped about two months ago. -

-my reply to you..walk at night everywhere, you have unreliable source.. you're just jealous just like dilawans.. i agree murderers are getting murdered here in davao.. we are talking about the law abiding citizen and their safety..

Weeel.. I mean if everyone says its the safest. I mean, If you really didnt think so, wouldnt this have rolled on its own a long time ago? I have never been personally, but it looks like the hype has some back to it. Considering the numbers, without fail, one of the safest cities here in the website.
Anonymous on May 31, 2019:
Remember folks, this is the same website based in Serbia that said Davao was the safest city in Asia. Also keep in mind that when Numbeo claimed Davao the the safest city less than 1,000 people voted it the safest city.

People who don't live or even visit Davao, can have a say on how safe Davao is. Some comments here only saw the bombing incident when it's very rare to happen.

I would like to see my fiancee noimelyn gludo to be able to get the proper prossesing quickly to be here with me until we move back when I retire.

I have lived in Davao for over ten years as an expat from Texas. I am not affiliated with the church at all now. I an retired.

Guards present in all public places are for security and it is too bad the U.S.A dies not do the same. I have never felt threaten by their presented. In fact quite the opposite I feel more secure.

My home in Houston was broken into three timed in an up scale subdivision. I have never been broken into in Davao. U SM not careless and keep fate lichen at all times. Robberies and burgularies happen everywhere.

I do not walk on deserted streets, but I do walk all around town. I am not afraid, but stay aware of my surroundings. I am 80 years old.

Davao has great doctors and hospitals. Good schools and great shopping. There is a building boom happening now. Traffic can be a problem.

I love Davao and will be here until I die and buried here
ian Buchan on Mar 24, 2018:
in the Community where I live there has been a recent spate Of Break ins largely due to people being careless and not locking doors or front gates
which seems to be in one area in particular . The local police are working with the local community in catching these people once and for all. aside from this Davao and its environs is a lot safer than Manila and its environs indeed I was robbed in a Church in Bulacan on a Sunday of my wallet which was never recovered ,this was in 2011 and no every shop does not have guns , Boraocay is a shithole compared to Davao indeed the President has ordered to close Borocay until it cleans its act up
Herbert on Mar 22, 2018:
Davao safest city in the Philippines? Must be a joke, almost every shop has its security with different types of guns. I even saw a guy with a pumpgun in front a clothes store. Every mall has its metalldetectors because fear of bombings that happened several times in the last years. For me it felt like it will happen something very bad soon thats - why so much gunholding people. Felt unsafe there, I prefer Boracay or smaller towns in Mindanao.
Ian Rees on Mar 22, 2018:
These stats for Davao are way out especially on crimes most people feel safe here whoever is putting out false information needs to be held accountable
ian Buchan on Feb 16, 2018:
I find the comment of one wrong when they said there were frequent Bombings in Davao, This is not True at all in fact I would challenge that person to name all these "frequent Bombings" apart from the incident in September 2016 there have been no further incidents of that kind at all , I have live in Davao for almost 3 years now and have never had a problem here also unlike another person who said there is nothing to do here they must be walking around with their eyes closed as there is plenty to do from visiting Eden Park, The Philippine Eagle Sanctuary, The Crocodile Park also you can go Hiking up Mt Apo with a Guide ,also there are many movie theatres in the Malls all of which are very modern with Security at the Entrances and on all floors there are also various parks and places to see like Jacks Ridge Resort also the Japanese Tunnel from WW2 then of course you can take a ferry to Samal island to visit one of the many resorts , I also have to say that Security has been significantly improved with Armed Soldiers and Police patrols especially at night on the Island. Davao city compared to Manila is a lot safer as long as you use common sense and be aware of who is near you especially at an ATM machine and do not dress to show your wealth. and always be respectful to the locals and people in Authority like the Police,Security officers and immigration officers and staff also be respectful to Mall staff . try to learn some of the Language like basic greetings as that will show your trying to learn the Culture and Language. Davao is a good place to visit and live as long as you behave and follow the rules here.

Davao is the safest City in the Philippines all because the Mayor has the will to impose the law and punish crime. He can do that because he is not beholden to anybody. He has no desire for costly living ang eats with the masses. He leaves his home at night and do patrol the city himself.
@gj on Oct 30, 2017:
I live here and no problem at all. I lost 2 things, but we found all of them.
Truly, its the BEST!
Darren Durrant on Oct 24, 2017:
going back again and past 6 times being there it was safe, couldn't sleep cause of sunburn one night and walked around davao from 2am- 4am and never had any issues. Every tine i been there i never been harassed for anything and never overcharged in shops or taxis.
Only those that get themselves into trouble are people that have an arrogant attitude or do crime. If you obey the law then nothing to worry about. Many sites to see like Samal Island, crocodile park, eagle sanctuary ,eden park, Mt Apo ( bit of a drive ).
Rey Zambrano on Sep 12, 2017:
Davao is the safest City in Philippines; I am in other place but when I lost my phone in Robinson it was returned at the reception..
Great and awesome experience..
Meow cat on Sep 02, 2017:
Have visited this city 9 times and is safe. Davao is in mindanao, and infact it is on the southern region so everyone expects it to be shook by terrorism once in a decade. Nevertheless, their city is always prepared. They have a central 911 hotline which has search and rescue capabilities, emergency K-9 units and basic Emergency response units. Their equipment are also fairly modern (unlike ours here in cebu, Cebuanos, lets accept it). This is the only city I have been to wherein the EMS ambulances of the government are better than the Hospital Ambulances. I have also heard that the City hospital can also compete with the Private hospitals (which does not happen that much in any major city in the Philippines). The 911 fire engines are not that old unlike other cities. Police are not corrupt and very determined to serve, I have also observed that not much of them are fat *cough cebu cough manila cough other cities. There are also soldiers with red wristbands (TF davao) roaming around the city with their dirt bikes. I have also went around the hiked the vicinity of San Pedro Hospital at 5:30 am for an hour, wearing some expensive clothing, bringing out my I phone and my audio technica headphones, In other cities, these hours are often known for street robbery, but nothing happened to me there in davao. Street CCTV's are everywhere too, I heard that they have very clear resolution (an issue for other street cctv's in the PH) so do not fear. In case of road safety, speed limits are implemented in the road too, 30kph is the city limit, some inner city 6 lane roads at 40kph and the national highway at 60Kph. Discrimination is also not allowed, like discrimination of race and gender, they have implemented fines for that. No smoking in public places, There is a liquor ban for public places, also a loud music ban (forgot the time thou). I have also observed that most stores tend to give the exact change, even the taxis I have rode so far, unlike other cities who have to ask you for some coins to fill the gap. Anyways, as they say, Low crime does not mean No crime, so just stay vigilant and alert in public places and do normal security measures at home, hotel or wherever you maybe. WILL TOTALLY COMEBACK TO DAVAO.

Unsafe here, bombings happen randomly, about 2 in 10 in population live in slums. There is nothing to see and do, people are quite backwards.
foreigner on Jun 03, 2017:
yeah, safest, with Martial law. What will be next? Police patrols check points around Davao during the night, Military check points outside of Davao( checking who is going out and going in the city).Cant walk in to the mall not being searched by guards and metal detector, armed guards in every small store, safest, yes sure safest. To live there is like sitting on a bomb that will explode anytime.Foreigners dont have much to do there, go to mall, or sit in condo. There are places in Davao where white men better not to show up at night. Is not safe as everyone says, is danger there ofcourse. Sit in your house you will be safe.Try to do some business there than you will see what is it all about.
Martin Abiquibil on Mar 03, 2017:
Call center agent here in Davao City, it's safe walking anywhere during night time. Anyway, I was born and live in Panabo City. I am here for the job and planning to live here in the future.

Other Phiippine cities only have around ~50 contributors. While this one has 845

And according to this site. Valenzuela is supposed to be the safest city in the Philippines, not Davao.

People shouldnt rely too much on this site. It's really screwed
