I lived in Brussels Before and now I live in Charleroi and I can swear that people are talking without knowing, Charleroi is ugly yes but its actually not dangerous and nothing ever happened to me or any of the people i know, but brussels is actualy dangerous and i’d rather be where ever in Charleroi in the night than in molenbeek, Anderlecht or schaerbeel

How the heck is Charleroi missing from the Europe crime rankings ?? It is estimated its homicide rate is around 10-11 which makes it one of the most dangerous European city

I live downtown Charleroi for 4 years after the sun goes down it becomes zombie city. Unemployment and drug abuse pushed this complete city in a ghetto even the center.

Do not visit this city, it is totally unsafe. Take the shuttle from the airport directly to Brussels, even the Brussels Midi train station is safer than any part of this ghetto city.

Used to be very dangerous a couple of years ago, I frequently took the airplane from Charleroi as the low cost flights depart from Charleroi and not Brussels. I got harassed and assaulted multiple times at the train station. Recently however police cracked down on crime at the South train station, so it feels way safer than it was a couple of years ago. I would say it is safe during the day to take the train to/from Charleroi, though if you are a woman I advise you to dress moderately to avoid harassment from arab gangs.

This city is completely unsafe with a very high criminality .
