Balbriggan Town is a bit tired but moving in the right direction with the development work happening now. Shopping centre a bit isolated and needs more in the empty spaces around it. There are nice areas to live in the north of the town too (Mount Rochford/Clonuske is good) as well as most of the middle part, but around Dunnes is worth avoiding, and Pinewood at the southern end.

I've seen very little to back up the opinions you'll read online about it being a slum hotbed of crime. It's really a very decent place to live, great location, and definitely on the way up.

The town is seeing great redevelopment and I'm excited to see how it goes.. It's an incredibly cheap town for what it offers.. I'm not sure why it has such a bad reputation because it really isn't that bad.. The North part of the town isn't as nice as the south and it isn't the safest area to live but it's not awful.. I would definitely recommend the south east of the town... It's a beautiful location by the sea and close to the town centre and it's very close to Ardgillan Castle..

Living in Balbriggan 15 years and lived my whole life along the North Dublin/Fingal coast. I'm biased but I think the east coast of NCD is hard to beat for quality of life in Ireland. Balbriggan is just starting to take shape over the last few years and I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the major redevelopment of the town/harbour in 2022. Hopefully this enables the opening of more restaurants.

In terms of crime I've personally witnessed 2 instances in the 15 years I'm here, both of theft. I can't comment on anywhere else during this time but I would say that's probably average v's other people's experiences in towns/cities across the country based on population etc.
