I disagree with Maxi. My net income per month (after student debts I have in my home country) is around 20.000NOK per month and I live a wonderful life here.

It's mainly going out (alcohol is expensive) and eating out (so are restaurants) that makes it expensive.

As a student you can live with 9.000 NOK a month.

If you like cooking yourself and you enjoy outdoor sports, you can fully enjoy life here =)

Prices have risen somewhat in Trondheim in 2014-2015, too. Rents in the centre are still high. Small things also keep rising. With less than 30,000,- a month after taxes, life is rather frugal. And with even 40,000, there is little room for luxury. All in all, Trondheim scores very bad on the price/quality ratio.

I live in Trondheim and yes it is excpensive, and yes norwegians make a lot of money. I guess (income/things you need to bye) living here cost as much as other places. Groceries are cheap, so are electricity and clothes. But eating out is really expencive to most norwegians and that is also transport with bus (and the taxi prizes are crazy high!) and renting /buying a home.
