Having stayed in Pune my entire life, I believe I can give you a jist of the life in what I call my hometown. It's a great city minus the "hustle hard" lifestyle and congested structure/environment of Mumbai but also maintains a very good atmosphere for youth and old age folks equally, especially for women/girls. There's high amount of 2 wheeler traffic and the situation is getting worse as traffic rules are not followed by half the population. Traffic violations happen at every corner/signal.
However, there are a lot of parks, hills for recreational activities, nearby picnic spots, entertainment is easily available and all food cuisines are available which is a quality found in very few Indian cities/metropolises.
I would urge anyone to come visit and also stay in Pune with family or as a bachelor/bachelorette and Pune will definitely grow on you in a few months/days.
People here are friendly, accommodating of people who speak different languages and ethnicities, has a vibrant night life, medical services are abundant, loads of good quality educational institutes, ample of food and entertainment options and has close proximity to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Satara, Kolhapur and a lot of other towns and religious places.
New airport is under development and also buses reach to every corner of Maharashtra state. Road transport is not world class but can get you from point A to B. Electricity supply is good (not the best) and many sports/recreational activities to do across the city.
On a scale of 1-10 I would rate Pune a straight 7 due to its great standard of living and amazing people, history, environment and many other distinguishing features found in few large cities across India. No wonder so many immigrants and people looking for a good livelihood choose Pune as their place of work/stay.
