Never have i seen housing so expensive, and i came here via Florida (lived there 2.5 yrs). Plus homes for sale under 180k are basically either in the hood or damaged so badly it isnt worth buying. Homes here sell in less than three days on market.
Food at wal mart is picked over and meat is outrageously expensive. I thought when i moved to “the Heartland of America”, things would be more affordable and easy to get. That is absolutely not the case here. From the little things in life like having to have a license for your cat that does not leave the house is a mandatory thing, to the big items like housing and car expenses, I have never seen anything like this.
That being said, The people here are pretty nice and the traffic is minimal. If you could live with not a lot of amenities such as big chain stores that you’re used to, you might do OK here. This is the only place On gods green earth that I know of that does not have a waffle house. Closest one is three hours away. Do your research before coming here. It’s not a bad place to live but it is a very harsh state regarding weather and living expenses.
