Please remember to add Council Tax to monthly expenses. This is a considerable amount in Manchester. It depends on the size and type of property ranging between 121 and 363 GBP per month.

Average price for one bed apartment in city centre with management charges if any but without council tax, gas electric water etc is now £1725 a month. Cheapest one bed apartment advertised is £965 a month. If you don’t mind living a 30 min bus/train journey from the centre then a 2/3 bed house is the best value with an average rental of £825 each month.

Commodity prices on numbeo are fairly accurate for food, clothing, gym etc….. with the exception being the cinema which is around £15 a ticket although vue have cheaper tickets available.

Manchesters yearly interest rate for housing is the highest in the uk and in 2024 it’s currently at 14.7 % this is due in part to many business such as tv networks and banks moving their headquarters to Manchester or Salford from London which has inflated housing costs and made renting in the city centre and surrounding 5 mile radius unaffordable for the average Mancunian.

For what it's worth the stats here look fairly accurate, rent on average is a bit higher now, but within 100 or 200 gbp still

May I know if the cost/price of commodities and every other items stated here are real. Are they not understated and deceitful? Are they reliable? Please I wanted a very objective answer.

I’m getting married to British citizens end of this year. I’m planning to move and retire in Manchester, England. I am US citizen and I will be receiving social security monthly around $2,200.09 and my future husband still working. How long it will take to be eligible for universal health insurance.

Thank you,
Virginia

Council tax always goes up , for social fund , now to help fire brigade , electric gone up £340 a year , gas has gone up , petrol rents road tax insurance , we feel like we are being robbed . Nothing goes down , no pay rises in 6 years , councillors. Getting 12%pay rises , in my opinion it’s better just to pack my job in And go on long term sick . I would be a lot better off , you are robbing us all

Re Single person COL on NUmbeo. Rent is NOT INCLUDED, OK. WHAT ABOUT COUNCIL TAX AND UTILITIES?

Important to define these
As they are significant.

Also, I live in Manchester and I get money from the PIP and Income Support since I have autism, I earn around 1280 pounds a month, I can manage great with the money because I only have to pay 50 pounds for the house rent in Heaton Mersey, Stockport (Which others in my area pay around 400-600 pounds). Including a little money off gas and electricity bills. I also don't have to pay 50 pounds a week for the Council Tax. Even a few people around my area fake disability, and they're living great lives (Some even have jobs and avoid paying 50 pounds). Exploiting Capitalist Governments are great, unlike in the countries where my friends live they don't need to do this because them countries are really cheap to pay for them since they eradicated poverty amongst the working class.

Most people in Manchester earn 1280 pounds a month (Pretty much the same as every other city except London which earn more), and most people I know who earn that amount of money live in poverty (Some people earn the lowest wage of 400 pounds, which one would be in debt since the bills and transport here are expensive and way above 600 pounds), that's why people fake a disability in the UK, so they don't have to pay a council tax of 50 pounds of a week of work. I know people who earn 300-400-500 pounds in other countries such as Egypt, Vietnam, Cuba, Angola, Laos and many more which they don't live in poverty despite the fact that they earn less, and they're able to obtain a better lifestyle than to people who live in the UK.

Manchester is not as pricey as the USA, mnthly income not bad, you can live comfortable if you are careful with your monthly income.

I want to move to U.K. next month, Manchester and Glasgow which one is more cheaper to live in? I mean in renting apartments and other commodities.
