People coming for school can find cheap housing. Cleveland HTS area, plenty of rooms, houses available. Check craigslist for apt and housing. Food can be expensive. But if you stick to what's in season and buying sale items I think you'll survive. Check out markets like West Side Market, Miles Market and Farmers Market. Arts and culture are plenty in Cleveland. Amazing museums, gardens, orchestra etc. Metro Parks and lake sports are our pride.
Sure the winter sucks. But 4 seasons is lovely. Just go on vacation on cold months! Cheap flights are plenty (Frontier, Spirit, Jet Blue) from CLE or Akron Canton.

$70K a year living in bay village = poor, we have very high tax rates, groceries are expensive. Summer lasts 70+ days at best then back to coats and jeans. Winter can really be bad, lately not so bad. The lake is nice and cedar point roller coaster part is the best in the nation, also the islands on the lake are cool. park system is good as well. really need thick skin to live here. traffic is traffic (bad during the rush hour)

I am married with three young elementary school children and will be earning an annual salary of $70,000 before tax. What kind of life style should I expect in Cleveland. I was looking at renting in the Bay Village area. After taxes, what would my actual monthly salary look like?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a single late 20's person making about $45K a year. It's plenty to have a nice place to live and go out on the weekends as long as you are reasonable with your money.
