Berkeley city streets and sidewalks are hazardous to use. The city is going downhill fast. property taxes are high in the place is in dire need of upkeep.

I fully agree with the first comment. I’ve been lining in Berkeley for 7 years. The town was better when we moved in but has been decaying since then.
The only two things I like are organic groceries with all food one can imagine and pleasant sunny weather year round. December and January can be rainy though.
Berkeley is old, pricey, hippie spirited, allows too much freedom, bad schools, low quality housing.

Berkeley is such a crazy place. It has lots of homeless people, people drunk or high on drugs wandering around, trash on the ground, and lots of graffiti. Aside from a few well-off areas, the city is overall pretty rundown with a lot of criminal activity and the cops don't seem to care. Not a week went by that I wasn't offered drugs by a random dealer or harassed by a group of homeless people that were mad at me for not having any spare change. Watch out for muggers too.

Overall, Berkeley is way overpriced and seriously not worth it.
