Prices above are more or less accurate. Am from Switzerland been living here in Baku for the past year. Foregoing imported western products, being a smoker and indulging in red wine every day, the grocery bill for the month including cigarettes and wine roughly 900 manat for 2 adult persons. I would say that half of that amount is just on wine and cigarettes. Renting a 70sq.m fully furnished apartment in Central Baku 1 minute away from the Four seasons Hotel in Azneft for 550 manat, utilities 80 manat for the month, winter time, half that during summer. Make use of taxi apps such as Bolt.Business lunches are quit reasonable between 12 and 15h00 usually, between 10 and 15 manats, obviously there are places that are cheaper. Lovely city, people friendly enough.Customer service great compare to Tbilisi, Georgia. Definitely worthwhile to visit or even relocate to for some time if the opportunity presents itself.

Azerbaijan are beautiful country But the living in it is very extravagant!!! Compared to Turkey, The living Turkey is much cheaper.
Sanan Y on Sep 26, 2020:
Hi. Being a turk probably will not give you any advantage. Most of the time you will feel as a normal citizen. 2000 USD is a very good amount for 2 person, so you will fell yourself very confident.

ı May move to Azerbaijan next year ( would be this year if there was no covid 19) i will earn about 2000 USD. Planning to rent a furnished apartment with two bedrooms in downtown. I have a normal lifestyle. is this amount enough to live and save for a married couple with no kids. By the way, i am turkish. is being a turk in azerbaijan give me any advantages or disadvantages?

If you have earning outside of Azerbaijan, like 1000-1500$ . You can easily live here.

To rent a room you can find in city center for monthly 100-150$ , if you want to rent whole apartment 400-500$ for 80-100 sq m house in center, outside center 250-300$ .

Food is not expensive . Personally, i pay 300$ for 3 rooms 120 sq m house monthly, 50$ monthly bills, 250$ for food 4 person family.

I love this country, But To be Honest, it is very diffucult to find a job here or start a new life if you are a immigrant, unless you dont have money

I live in Baku, I moved here 20 years ago. Yes it seems, salaries are very low but expenses are high. Normal person thinks, how someone pays 500 rent, 300-400 for monthly food, 100 for basic utilities and etc. The Answer is : Corruption. How it works?

For example , i am getting 1500 manat + bonuses but officially my salary is 285 manat ( company shows salaries low to pay less taxes) .

And if you work in govermental companies. Your salary is 400 manat , and you can get a lot of corruption money.

People pay 100000-150000$ to get 200$ monthly salary in governmental jobs because they know there a lot of black money

#Ivan you can rent anywhere, no one will disturb you. If you speak russian, it will be much easier for you because old generation know russian language better. I would recommend you Yasamal, price is ok there.

Cost of living is very cheaph if you come from Europe for travel.
