This will show what I received from a COLA from SSD
From 2010-2019. I was enrolled in SSD in 2010 and never
Received a COLA until Jan.2019. The COLA was only $45 in
A 9 year period while my rent skyrocketed.
I STARTEd paying $575 for rent in 2010 and by
2016 the cost was $800 and that year I moved in with my
daughter because I couldn't afford that apartment. My
Daughter was also struggling. And every year SS would write
And say I didn't get a COLA because the cost of living
Didn't go up. I wondered how stupid they thought people
On SSD were.
Anyways something has to be done about these
Out of control rents. Middle income people can't even
Afford them and people like me that are on a fixed
Income have an even harder time. They want 60%-65% of
My income.,
As Bernie says, there is a huge disparity
Between the classes and it just keeps getting wider.
So, this is my reason for not being able to afford rent
and supporting rent control. Something has to be done
Before Denver forces the people to move from here.
