"Manual review" again. Please explain yourself.
Coke and water are sold in restaurants in 150 cl bottles, the same you get in supermarkets. In a good "gargote" here, Coke is 7,000 and water is 4,000 MGA for 150 cl, divided by 159 and multiplied by 33...

=== Taxis ===
There is no start tariff and no kilometre-wise tariff.
One hour of taxi "rent" within the city limits is 30,000 MGA, roughly 6 €. I entered this as the 1 hour "waiting tariff" because it is not important if the taxi is in motion or stationary, it's the same amount. So 30 min to your destination, 1 hour waiting for the driver and 30 min back to where you came from will be 60,000 MGA (for two hours in total).
Everything else will be discussed beforehand with the driver.
There are fixed rates for certain routes though, e. g. a ride from the airport to the city center is 40,000 MGA or roughly 8 €.

New prices...
There are "manual checks" again. 3 items this time. Why? How do you want to check if you're not here? Madagascar is not the same in every city, in fact the 6 "big cities" are rather isolated from each other as if there were islands themselves -- "isolate" and "island" stem from the same latin root btw. What could a check of my entry of 1 kg of potato pricing look like?
These are prices from the Score supermarket where (the rare) westerners go for their shopping. The rice price is from a market for locals though. The price gap between western-style supermarkets and local food markets are a reality here!
Greetings from Diégo!

=== Restaurants ===
There are two types of "inexpensive restaurants" in Madagascar. I'm referring to the "better" (no evaluation intended) type, the "gargote" in French. 7,000 MGA is the price for a noodle soup with a little meat, a typical dish here.
Prices have risen in Madagascar, too, so in a "mid-range restaurant", 80,000 MGA is closer to reality nowadays. If you decide to take something from the daily menu, it'd rather be 90,000.
I have never seen draught beer in Madagascar (like in Tansania btw). Domestic beers are served in 33 cl and in 65 cl (22 oz) bottles. The price I entered is for the local THB beer, 65 cl bottle (called "GM") adjusted to 50 cl, hence the odd number.
Greetings from Diego!

For the small bottle imported beer (which doesn't exist here), I took two 500 ml cans, one Dutch, one Belgian, calculated the average and adjusted for volume (355 ml).
For local cheese, I calculated the average of four different types (per kg).
The food prices entered so far are from the "Score" supermarket, a subsidiary of some kind of the French "Carrefour" company.
Other prices I'll add will come from local "street" markets and might be notably lower.

Hi,
I contributed about 6 months ago when I was in Toamasina/Tamatave. I'm currently in Antsiranana/Diégo-Suarez for minimum a month and will try to add prices as I spot them or ask them from local people.
Some prices may seem curious as, e. g., there is no McDonald's, H&M/Zara and no not-fake shoewear of internationally known brands here (apart from 2nd hand).
A pair of leather flip-flops made in Madagascar (Aigle d'Or) is 35,000 MGA (about 7 €, believe it or not), its non-leather counterpart from the equally Malagasy "Maki" brand is 59,000 MGA or about 12 €. Chinese made surfer-style laceless shoes are about 14 €, more than in Germany!
