We have been visiting Ankara for 6 weeks. For short term
rentals we found most landlords very unwilling and prices significantly higher. Three different real estate agents were quoting us 2500 TL and up for furnished one bedroom monthly.

Also real estate agents quoted 50% - 100% commission ( for example 3,000 TL rent and 3,000 TL commission.

Very significant fact we noticed. Ankara taxi drivers are super helpful and consistently very honest.
We had numerous incidents last year in Istanbul with taxi drivers and their scams.

Hi #marwa. It really depends. But, for sure in Ankara you would live more comfortable with that 600TL than Ist. since Ank is cheaper in almost everything. However, there is that world-known Bosphorus in Ist which cannot be compared with any place in Ank!

@Mohammad: Common currency is lira actually. Sellers/venues (restaurants, bars, markets etc.) don't wanna take euro or dollar usually. But its possible with people who selling touristic stuff i guess.
#Günce IŞIK on Jul 09, 2014 :
@kamyar: Hi;
it will be cost around 250-300$ per month (close to center) and you can't find little houses around city center, mostly flats.
