#Bryan on Jun 16, 2019 :

Why not just be honest with everyone. There are people who will gladly help. But not when they are being lied to.
#Anonymous on May 10, 2019 :
To Anonymous post April 5. Ghanaians have problems eating three meals per day is a big lie because I stayed in Accra for two weeks on vacation and I saw different. What really needs to happen is for other countries to black out the internet in Ghana so scammers like you go away.
#Bob on Apr 13, 2019 :
Was wondering if I’m being scammed I’m pretty sure I am but, I would like to sure. It’s about a girl in Accra you wants to come to the USA.
#Anonymous on Apr 05, 2019 :
Hi guys, I read every comment on here and realized most people are been scammed even though there is so much information on this. The said Linda Bans looks and smells like a scammer, what is she, a private investigator or works with the police.
You guys don't know the problems we have here in Ghana, people struggle to eat, the world system makes it difficult for ordinary Ghanaians to get three square meals a day. I have lived here my whole life and I can attest to that fact.
There are very intelligent young men and women who still cannot feed after all the smartness and so what do they do with it? They use it to scam and engage in fraudulent activities. When a man is hungry all morals will be thrown out, because the basic need of a man is self survival. I am not holding brief for them or justifying this behavior, but if you can understand why they do this, then we can find ways of helping out, that is if you truly have any interest in helping and not just exploiting like the western world has done to Africans for centuries.

I am an Enteprenuer with extermely good ideas but who is going to provide the capital for my dream to be achieved? If I ask any of you our there to help me you will just brush it off, but then will follow the rainbow looking for a pot of gold here in Africa.
I can offer 20% in my business, I need help to develop a merchant app like no other ever created, something different from Ebay, Amazon and Alibaba, if you have an interest send me an email on, you really want to make a difference let us do business, there are lots of ladies and able men here who will fall for you without asking for money first or exploit you.
come and lets do business together, register a company together, do business together and make profits together. Africa cant develop without investment in the right sectors, I have the ideas, bring your ideas and lets see how to get it off, I promise you you will never regret it.

Without help this ideas will remain in my head and situation remain the same.\
Thank you.

I lived in Accra Ghana for 3 months with a guy I met off the internet. I can tell you that most of them want 1. Money and 2. to come to the United States. It is extremely difficult to get them a visa to come here. We have been working on this 3 years. When renting a place they want payment of two years in advance. An average sandwich fries and a Coke cost about 40 cedi which is about 10$ us money. it's a nice place for a third world country but beware that medical is all on a cash and carry basis. You must pay before seen. Electric is a pre paid service. The people are very humble but without the scams they have going on they can not survive
#Chris Budway on Mar 16, 2018 :
I'm curious, are there any successful relationships from a Ghana women and a male from the United States? Or are they money scams! any way of picking out a fraud,

Rent is NOT paid on a monthly basis. It's paid normally 2 years in advance so that figure needs to be deducted. Plus rent is NOT almost $1400 as you state....this is nonsensical as even a high paying job will not pay this amount. Only a small percentage of GhanAians earn thousands of dollars a month. Therefore these figures you quote cannot be the norm but probably for expat or elite super rich locals. The figures you use are misleading. I am of Ghanaian descent and live in London and NO WAY is the cost of Accra living 80% that of London!!
#John on Aug 28, 2016 :
Your prices are wrong, even not close to cost of living in Accra,

Good evening everybody
It seems I found the answer to my own question!
Yeah, from now on I am sure that a certain "Winnie Robertson" from Accra - Ghana using the mail adress: is a SCAMMER.
#7566_;-) on Jun 26, 2016 :
Good morning
I would like to have your opinion about what it can be a SCAM! The fact is that I met a 32 y.o.girl that at first was from Double Springs, Alabama, USA, but after we started chating on the hangout of gmail she told me she was living in Accra Ghana thou she was daughter of an american man and a local lady, bla, bla, bla,...OK! from that moment on a dozen of red flags started to ask for my attention to the details of that potential affective relationship. The true is that I have already asked her for a chat through SKYPE and she showd up with thw same pretty face and in accordance with the initial, my question is: In the middle of an hangout chat if you, out of the blue, would ask her for an imediate chat through SKYPE and she accepted and appeared with the same face like the photos and the same talk, would that be enough to put away in your mind the chance of a SCAM??? Obviously we haven´t speaken yet about money or I have sent any amount.
OK! in my country we have a proverb that goes this way, "caution and chicken soup never hurt anyone" anyway, from your expertise, what would you say to me?
Cheers all

one bedroom in accra $1 360? where did you get your source of information?even the highest paid job is less than this amount. dont deceive the world please.
#Anonymous on Jun 15, 2016 :
Let me start by enlightening you that in Ghana, unlike the Philippines and other countries in Asia, Europe, the America, and Europe, we do not use weighing scales in selling our food stuffs (commodities) except some imported food stuffs like rice, fish-red fish, herrings milk and so on. In Ghana, we use bowls (locally called Olonka/kruwa), cups, sacks (bags), cans/tins, and rubber buckets or pans in selling food stuffs in almost all markets in Ghana. The weight of particular food stuff is not the determining factor in the pricing of a commodity in the Ghanaian market but rather the size, demand & supply (availability/scarcity), quality, and the type of material used to measure it. For example, the price of maize depends on whether it is being measured with a bowl or a cup or a sack; whether there are plenty in the market or it is scarce; whether it is new or old. To explain further, a bowl (olonka/kruwa) of maize has different weights from a bowl (olonka/kruwa) of pepper and therefore cannot be said that the weight of maize in an “olonka” is equivalent to the weight of a bowl of pepper in the same “olonka”.
A bowl (an olonka/kruwa) of maize has a weight of about 4kg while fertilizer (1/2 bag) and cocoa sacks have about 80 kg and 200kg respectively. One bowl of maize (about 4 kg) costs about GHc5 (US$1.30) in Accra presently whilst same costs GHs4 (US$1.05) and GHs3.50US$0.92) in Kumasi and Techiman/Kintampo respectively. In the Philippines, 1 kg of maize costs averagely P45 in Manila and P38 in Cebu city, Legaspi, Cagayan, and P30 in Davao (the cheapest price of maize in the whole Philippines). Now, if a bowl (olonka/kruwa) of maize in Ghana is equivalent to 4 kg and costs GHs 5 in Accra, then by a simple arithmetic, 1 kg of maize in Accra costs about GHs1.25 (US $0.33). Please, note that 1 kg of maize cost 45 pesos in Manila (almost US$1) on the average (depending on the variety). You can do the rest of the calculations for the various cities on your own.
In Ghana, a bowl (olonka/kruwa) of white beans cost GHc10 (US$2.63 or GHc2.25/US$0.59 for 1kg) in Accra, GHc8 (US$2.37) and GHc6 (US$1.58) for Kumasi and Techiman respectively. A bowl (olonka/kruwa) of red beans costs GHc8 (US$2.37 or GHc2/US$0.53 for 1kg) in Accra, GHc7 (US$1.84), in Kumasi, and GHc4 (US$1.05) Techiman/Kintampo respectively.
In the Philippines, 1kg of white beans costs P100 (US$2.17) in Manila, P90 (US$1.96) in Cebu, Davao and other cities. Red beans costs P100 in Manila, Legaspi, Davao, Cebu, Cagayan and others. If one bowl (olonka/kruwa) of beans (cowpea) in Ghana is equivalent to 4kg, then 1 kg of white bean Ghc2.25(USS0.59) in Accra, and about GHc2 in Kumasi and GHc1.50 others. On the other hand, 1kg of white bean costs more than US$2 in Manila and almost US$2 in other cities.
1 kg of red tilapia fish(cold store price)in Accra costs GHc7(less than US$2) but in Philippines, 1 kg of red tilapia fish costs P450(close to US$10) at Robinson, SM, Ayala, Shopwise, Fooda, and almost all the malls/super markets. The Cheapest fish I have found in my entire (almost) five years in the Philippines was 1 kg of herring sold at P100 (more than US$2) at one of the local markets in Legaspi city.
125 ml of Carnation milk (condensa) costs GHc1.50 (US$0.39) in Accra, and Philippines P45 (US$1) at SM in Manila. A liter of soya cooking oil costs Ghc7 (less than US$2) in Accra. But the same cooking oil costs P150 (more than US$3) in Manila. A bottle of vita-milk drink (chocolate) costs GHc2 (US$0.52) in Ghana but it costs 35 pesos (US$0.76) in Manila. 125ml of close-up toothpaste costs GHc4 (US$1.05) in Accra; 135ml of the same close-up costs P110 (US$2.39) in Manila. Pepsodent toothbrush is sold for GHc1.50 (US$0.39) in Accra, but a similar quality of that toothbrush is sold for P100 (US$2.17) in Manila. The list can go on and on but just to cite you a few food/grocery items.

NEVER SEND MONEY TO LINDA BANS. Linda Bans is scamming people. The person using the email address is a fraud. They say they conduct private investigations in Ghana, but they do not. If you want to hire a background check use a real company. Make sure you are contacted by someone with a corporate email address and not a gmail address, and that payments can be done through secure methods like credit card or PayPal,not by Western Union. I add this comment because I was scammed by someone using the email address.

#traveller on Oct 30, 2015 :
Hello everybody, firstable, i want to comment on people who comes here to complain after been scammed while there is soo much information about this scamming things to be find. Sadly people always get hypnotised by a good looking woman or guy they meet on net. those eyes makes u send money and do foolish things. I have experiance on that level for one reason , i work in africa many months a year, and i can tell u that mostly the majority of the population would ask u for money and do whatever it takes so that u can give it out.the womans in africa have this habbit to be taken care of the man even if its only a bf, to pay everything for her and some even would ask money to help the whole family if they get u in the heart. So if u truly have enough money and need Love, why dont you to visit a prostitue to cool off? or go to a bar find a woman, even better, travel the world and see things for ya self, but dont spend time behind the computer talking with someone not even close to you, and send all u earned money? Also my last remark is bout this lady or guy named "Ban -" I dont understand why people should contact this person?? to get your last pennys???? people already lost so much money, and to pay this agency to find you the information u want to find out bout a scammer ,you better spend that money on a dating site wich is legally good, and offers u more waranty bout finding love, cause for me to find out if u been scammed while there is so much information on net and to ask this linda for help to get u the information is sad.yOU BETTER call the authority, police, ambassy ect. So people dont fall a sleep behind the computer cause u need love, cause love dont cost money and if u truly wanna pay for it, well go visit a hooker or check ya self in a dating site.....otherwise the smartest thing u can do with that much money is go visit that country and findout for ya self if those girls overthere are better than here where u liv named home! To end this speech i would say go visit africa its a beautefull continent amazing landscapes, very friendly people and so much things to learn from them.

Currently inflation is even higher, close to 25% although the decrease in fuel costs might help to lower it a bit. GHS interest rates are now officially 25%.
The currency has seen wild fluctuations vs US$ and GBP. That might continue for some time. Ghana's export revenue comes from gold, oil, cocoa, bauxite, timber. Most commodities have gone down a lot and that hurts them, couple this with inflation and severe load shedding since last November and you can figure out that all is not well.
As far as a black market for currencies: it's not really a black market. Forex can be freely exchanged. The forex dealers basically give better rates around mid market than the local and regional banks. The banks go roughly 10% either side of mid market. Forex bureaus are much tighter.
Taking cash here on a holiday or biz trip and exchange it here at a forex bureau is much cheaper than load it on your visa or master card. Amex is not widely accepted, only in the big hotels sometimes.

All the data submitted on the groceries are prices paid at Palace Supermarket in Accra @ the Coca Cola roundabout on Spintex Road. 12x1.5 litres of still mineral water is GHC 15 or about 1.25 GHC per bottle. USD v GHC rate is 3.80.
1 kg local oranges, high quality, is GHC 1.89
A can of carlsberg or Heineken 0.33 later is GHC 4.5 at Say Cheers or Shoprite

Fitness club costs:
Branch Fitness at Spintex Rd, a BIG gym. Annual membership GHC 1200 or USD 318.
Monthly membership is GHC 195 or USD 51. That's very uneconomical when you know you're here for a year. The USD 130 a month is probably at the Movenpick or Labadi Beach Hotel, but definitely not in big gyms around accra.

I have a big problem I need advice and help. I have been talking with a girl from Ghana for about four months she has asked for money and as a dummy I have sent her some. She wants me to send her money to get her a passport and visa(400). I told her if she wants me to get her passport and visa she needs to stop asking for money and she has it's been two months. But at the same time she has also sent me money from someone here in the states to send back to her for her brother supposedly it came from a grandfather. She has sent me through money gram one for 250 and another for 550 and I have sent them back to her. The crazy part where it all hit the fan is this. On my fb page on "people you might know" there was another person with the same picture but different name. So I friend this person I order to find out some truth. She told me the person I was talking to was a fake and she had lost her camera awhile back. In order for her to prove to me she was the actual person she volunteered to show me herself through web cam. She borrowed a web cam from a friend. The next day i seen her again( but couldn't hear) through web cam but could not hear her. We communicated through messages. The following day I seen through web cam again before she had to return the web cam. Being upset I questioned the first girl that I have been talking to for 4 months. I was upset and I asked her if this is to continue I would like to speak to her the WebCam and sure enough she was upset but she agreed to it. Next thing I know I am seeing her through WebCam same as the first person . How is that possible. At this point I was really confused I was able to see two different people and have them be the same person on WebCam on seperated days. There is more to this but I really need some advice fast. Some one out there please help me with some advice. I will explain what else is involved. Please. Searching. For answers!!!
