Accra is a losing proposition for all foreigners moving there for work investing or retirement.Apartments/ houses are owned by entire families normally unfurnished no appliances no A/C rent is expected for one year in cash dishonest real estate agents but here's the catch no real estate license required and no accountability beware.

This article is wrong for saying rent is 80 percent less than New York .. a good place to sleep in Accra will cost you 400 to 1500 dollars a month . How can that be 80 percent cheaper than New York ..? And the cost of living as estimated is 2thousand dollars without rent .that is not cheap .

Never move to Ghana especially Accra. Traffic is a major issue like pollution is.Combine that with scammers at every turn not worth it. Supposedly people are nice in Ghana but don't believe it. It's all a front to gain your trust nothing more then the stealing starts. You must be street smart even visiting Ghana. Being from NYC I keep my game face on. People coming up to you starting a conversation is their first step to feel you out. Keep walking like I did and don't acknowledge they're even there. I was the best man at a wedding in Ghana only reason I visited briefly.

We moved to Accra last year due to the cheap rentals but we should've done much more research before we moved. It's normal to pay one or two years rent upfront which put a dent in our money once we arrived.90% of rentals don't have any furniture refrigerator stove or A/C which we needed to purchase. If you move to a different dwelling you can take everything with you.Be leary of bogus real-estate companies offering places for rent.Inspect the dwelling very carefully and take pictures of areas of damage. But overall deposits are rarely returned by landlords. It gets very hot in Accra so A/C is necessary. Traffic is another issue due to the population. Many people leave home 3 to 5 hours early for work otherwise traffic is bumper to bumper.Coming home from work expect it to take atleast 3 hours depending upon which part of the city you're traveling from. The people are very nice and understanding but even they complain about the horrible traffic which is understandable. We moved to Kumasi after our lease ended. The roads are better structured and Kumasi has around 600,000 fewer people than Accra.

Ghana is the number 1 scammer capital in the world and Nigeria is number 2. Just remember the majority of scammers especially women have either a boyfriend or husband on the side. Even if you are in Ghana especially Accra meeting them in person 99% of the time they are scammers.

Why not just be honest with everyone. There are people who will gladly help. But not when they are being lied to.

To Anonymous post April 5. Ghanaians have problems eating three meals per day is a big lie because I stayed in Accra for two weeks on vacation and I saw different. What really needs to happen is for other countries to black out the internet in Ghana so scammers like you go away.

Was wondering if I’m being scammed I’m pretty sure I am but, I would like to sure. It’s about a girl in Accra you wants to come to the USA.

Hi guys, I read every comment on here and realized most people are been scammed even though there is so much information on this. The said Linda Bans looks and smells like a scammer, what is she, a private investigator or works with the police.
You guys don't know the problems we have here in Ghana, people struggle to eat, the world system makes it difficult for ordinary Ghanaians to get three square meals a day. I have lived here my whole life and I can attest to that fact.
There are very intelligent young men and women who still cannot feed after all the smartness and so what do they do with it? They use it to scam and engage in fraudulent activities. When a man is hungry all morals will be thrown out, because the basic need of a man is self survival. I am not holding brief for them or justifying this behavior, but if you can understand why they do this, then we can find ways of helping out, that is if you truly have any interest in helping and not just exploiting like the western world has done to Africans for centuries.

I am an Enteprenuer with extermely good ideas but who is going to provide the capital for my dream to be achieved? If I ask any of you our there to help me you will just brush it off, but then will follow the rainbow looking for a pot of gold here in Africa.
I can offer 20% in my business, I need help to develop a merchant app like no other ever created, something different from Ebay, Amazon and Alibaba, if you have an interest send me an email on prince.opopoku@gmail.com, you really want to make a difference let us do business, there are lots of ladies and able men here who will fall for you without asking for money first or exploit you.
come and lets do business together, register a company together, do business together and make profits together. Africa cant develop without investment in the right sectors, I have the ideas, bring your ideas and lets see how to get it off, I promise you you will never regret it.

Without help this ideas will remain in my head and situation remain the same.\
Thank you.
