Have visited Krakow many times in the past 4 years usually staying 1-2 months each time. Only "problem" I once had was a guy presumably trying to scam me in Old Town (came up to me very friendly and asked me where I was from) but I told him I was busy and he moved on. Very safe city and seems the influx of Ukrainian refugees has had zero impact on its safety, which is a testament to the Polish and Ukrainian people. I commend the hospitality and kindness of the Polish people and I sincerely hope your beautiful country stays this way for a long time.

It's very safe and in compare to for example Stockholm there is almost zero crime rate. Of course be aware of your belongings in touristy areas in Krakow but as a woman you can go in the middle of the night alone and nothing is gonna happen. Do that in any bigger city in western Europe and you will shortly see how 'tolerant' these newcomers, doctors and engineers are;)

In 1992 I had my belongings stolen on a train to krakow. The only part of krakow I set eyes upon was the police station. Then off to Warsaw to get an exit visa. I've never returned but am thinking of doing so this year.

In 36 years of living here, I got punched once in the middle of the night being alone in not that great of a neighborhood and mugged once as a kid, people are to busy around here to look for trouble, the worst that can happen to you is a loud neighbor (sadly a common occurrence in all of Poland)

Moved here 10 years ago, never had any problems with thefts or pickpocketing. Beautiful city. Not to say that it can't happen of course... but compared to a few other cities i've been to for less than a week and seen or experienced it, then here it's not an issue.

Careful they go through your bags in Poland ... poor country. Change locks often from lock smith who does not know where you life and use wire or other locks to secure all points of entry
