Cons: I usually go down town with my friends in cork and i see people doing sketchy or dodgy nearley every 2nd day, we usually dont take any notice on it but my point is that you probebly will see people doing something sketchy atleast once while your there. also the cost of living is deadly, and also the attitude usually in Dublin or Cork is too. Pros: Its pretty nice if you love cities.

Cork (and Ireland in general) flatters to deceive. They say Cork is safe and that Irish people are happy and friendly. This sadly is becoming a thing of the past. The only safe regions in Ireland are the west of Ireland. The attitudes of people in Cork and Dublin absolutely stink. Obviously it's better than living in Afghanistan but if you can definitely move out. The cost of living absolutely kills you. The biggest difference between a safe place like Spain for example and Cork is the mindset. You're greeted with a smile, hug or fist bump in Spain. In Cork it's a cold conserved stare, eyeing you up

Cork is pretty safe if you are aware of your surroundings and stay in the city. As long as you don't make yourself a target nothing will happen. There are a lot of people on drugs but you just ignore them and mind your own business and they will do the same. Bike theft is a big crime in Cork so just lock your bikes too and you'll be fine. I've never been robbed in Cork but I know some people that have..

Ive been living in Cork for over 18 years now. I moved when i was 7 with my parents. For quite some time i thought it was very safe but recently the crime has started to rise a lot. I lived in a suburb very close to the city and there were many fights at night. People were also starting fights with me for no reason. Our house was vandalized(broken windows and egged) I moved to the city center over a year ago and both mine and my brothers motorcycles were stolen, our neighbors car had been vandalized and another had its wheels stolen. There are also plenty of druggies at night but during the day its peaceful enough besides the odd drunk passed out in the park.

I've lived in Cork City since 1992. Neither myself, my wife, not my three now adult children have ever been the victims of any crime whatsoever. That's right; no assaults, burglaries, no pickpocketting, no anything! Cork is an incredibly safe city to raise a family. It's easygoing and friendly.

Apparently and sadly, Cork is not as safe as how this website suggests. I have been doing some research because I have been thinking to move there to improve my English skills and I have just found this facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/corksredfm/posts/do-you-feel-safe-on-the-streets-of-cork-were-speaking-to-vincent-who-has-returne/10157150998827060/

(Almost everyone say they don't feel safe walking on Cork streets and they're locals!!).

Also, I have been following news from Dublin and Cork and unfortunately, assaults happen pretty often in both cities. It's really sad.

If you're wanting to move to Ireland, I would suggest you to check everything you can before moving. You can ask to locals or check news from the city you're wanting to move to. I don't believe people who say that all cities are dangerous. Cork is not that big, I have visited a much bigger city from my country (this page ranks it with a much higher crime) and I've never felt unsafe walking there! Also, I live nearby a city that has 103,477 inhabitants (Cork has around 200,000) and I've never felt unsafe walking at day/night.

Ireland seems to have a thug issue. Those are called "Irish Travellers" and they are the scumbag of Ireland. Unfortunately, the whole country is full of them: https://www.cso.ie/en/releasesandpublications/ep/p-cp8iter/p8iter/p8itd/

I hope this comment helps! I would honestly consider to move to another country instead. I'm not willing to feel unsafe nor in danger.
