Districts are very different. Those in the south are safer than others. Although not so common, assaults and robbery still happen. Avoid walking alone where you do not know. Ask people about where is safe to go and you will be good. Natal used to be one of the safest capitals in Brazil in early 2000s, but it is no more. The good thing is crime rates are decreasing this year (2015) for the first time in a decade. Hope it stays!

No, crime rate is not that bad at all. It exists but it is definitely safer than I felt in Recife, Sao Paulo, Fortaleza, Rio and Salvador.

Is the crime rate really that high in Natal?
are all districts the same?
this city was suppose to be the lease amount of crime?
so, why is there such high numbers?
are these numbers factual?

Fiquei surpreso com as estatísticas. Há um sentimento de medo entre as pessoas.
