Hi, Peter, please contribute latest data. We do archive old items periodically. Thanks

I am afraid Helsinki prices are not that accurate anymore.
In the past couple of years food prices as well as transportation have increased more than 13%.

Current apartment rent and selling prices in Finland: https://www.vuokraisanta.fi/tilastot/

Vuokratasot = rent prices, myyntitasot = sellingprices, pyydetään = asking prices, tarjotaan = offred prices, maksetaan = paid prices
#KK on Jul 21, 2012 :
Please note that in Helsinki housing it is common to advertise rooms instead of bedrooms in apartments. The housing prices seem to reflect 3-room apartments, not 3-bedroom (i.e. 4-room) places.

For undergraduate students (at least for bachelors and masters), you can travel for half price provided you use a student travel card. It would mean that the monthly pass will be 22,50eur for a single region, instead of the typical 44eur.

Using the travel card itself can reduce your travel expenditure, if you plan to stay in Helsinki for some time. Here is a website with all the information about travel rates:

http://www.hsl.fi/EN/ticketsandfares/prices/Pages/internaltickets.aspx

NOTE: Students will fall into "Value ticket, discount group 2".
