May be moving to the PI to retire.Lived in Manila no of years . Had business there then . Wife is Filipina and I have ACR. Want to buy a house with some land but area must have cold climate and very low humidity. Would also like to have decent driving distance to Manila. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My wife and I have lived in Tagaytay for 3 years, in two different locations. As far as crime is concerned, I only know of one violent crime during that time (a homicide), which involved a late-night fight between men who had been drinking heavily. Other than that, I've heard of one or two property crimes, such as minor, opportunistic burglaries. Overall, we feel very safe here.

Never felt anything wrong in Tagaytay (lived there for a long time, until Taal volcano eruption). The city is unexpectably clean and pretty safe. Probably some areas far from center aren't safe at night, but I can fairly say that most part of Tagaytay is, even at night time. Comparing to huge cities like Makati or Cebu Tagaytay is much, much, much safer. Though people there aren't used to meet foreigners, and some of them can be tactless a bit.
