All my friends have been robbed in Curitiba. I live in a drug-dealing area in City Centre, full of muggers, but I walk alone at night and for the last 3 years I've been safe.

You are considered an easy target if:
- You're women.
- Look tourist or rich (being white is not a problem, most of us here are white, the problem is about your clothes).
- Looking gay (thugs don't care about your sexual orientation, but they think gays tend not to resist to armed robberies)

If you are a target, do not walk alone at night (except in crowded areas) or during the day in southern city.
Ps: I've never seen an internation tourist being victim of crime, it happens only to brazilians who relax because they consider Curitiba is safe city due to 82% white population (Europeans know white people do commit crime)

You guys should also consider who's replying, especially to crime and violence. Women are more subject to be harassed in the streets than men.

I live in the south region, in a mildly poor area, but I've never been a victim of robbery or assault, except once, but it was like 12 years ago.
