Providing people w "average" salary is useless information, because the avg salary is NOT what the avg person earns. The avg person earns the MEDIAN. To give U some idea of the difference, avg savings for a US family in 2013 were $220,000 - but the average American family had less than $10,000 in savings. The avg income was in the top 1% of income! Amazing, isn't it? But the median income was (in round numbers)$25,000/yr before payroll deductions. The difference comes from the 1000 or so billionaires in the US. Their wealth drags the avg savings up, & their earnings drag the avg income up. Median income (median anything) is that figure that has the same number with more as with less. Avg people have and earn medians NOT averages. The Gini Coefficient for the US now stands at about 0.46 - same level as for the third world. Civilized countries like Netherlands, Norway, Finland, are in the 0.33 range. The higher the number the greater the inequality. The American people are not rich, they are in fact, just barely getting by. They are the new poor in the new world order. And the whole world, thanks to the propaganda, admires, and wants to be, just like them. And a key technique of that propaganda is to endlessly quote averages and not medians. It's telling a lie embedded in the technical truth.

Interesting website. Learned that I can't afford to live in Curacao.
