Nobody's ever lived in Ukraine anywhere close to 5 years and nobody has ever had a salary of up to 8,000 it seems you are bored John. Have you ever thought about walking around on a heavily traveled road at night with nonreflective clothing?

What is the percentage ofpeople who earn 1000 to 8000 USD a month? I direct to question to person who has lived in Ukrain for five years. The truth is that avarage salary is 400-500 $.

Ukraine will meet it's end when Russia sends tactical nukes to Ukraine.Xi warned Putin recently not to use nukes but it doesn't matter what Xi warned at all.Nukes were built for warfare it's about time they were used.If it kills other people in Russia or other countries so what it doesn't matter

Putin like the Russian military has repeatedly shown how primitive they are. Running out of gas for their tanks and other military equipment and then asking Ukrainians for gas. People in hell want ice water Russia
In the end we will cut putins head off and kick it through the streets of Ukraine and Russian soldiers will join him.

I've lived here for 5 years on Sep 18, 2021:
To describe the city in one phrase - window-dressing.
To describe the country in one phrase - wild capitalism and no laws.

Laws exists of course but nobody enforces them. If you know certain people(or you pay them well) you may rob or kill someone else and you will be fine unless smb else will kill you first. In most of the cases situation is _much_ less stressed but it doesn't dim previous statement, especially if one run some business or has insulted some VIP.
As a long standing tradition in the country(not only in Odesa) almost nobody pay income taxes and really many more other taxes. According to official statistic it's ~30-35% of population but in reality it's rather 70-90% and 99.999% of people don't pay at least some taxes systematically(rent income, smuggling etc). Some people think that utilities is also a tax and don't pay them too(btw relatively small bills in comparison to EU). It's very common and after 30 years of negligence only recently governments allowed service companies to sue those individuals and arrest their bank accounts.

Most of the prices here are relatively accurate but not the incomes. $400-$600 is minimal salary, i.e. cash desk person in food store. Taxi driver $1000-$2000(and pay literally no taxes thinking that Bolt/Uber fee is already a tax). Drinking water delivery: $800 without own lorry and $1500 with it. Small entrepreneurs(cafes, car services): $1500-$3000. IT guys $2000-$8000, banking sector $500 is entry salary and $1000+ for middle manager and list goes on. In any case if one wants to relocate to the city, they would probably be rather shocked to stay in traffic jams of expensive cars and of abundance of luxurious apartments($150K-$400K) and houses bought in cash because mortgage is almost nonexistent mostly because people do not return money(there are even laws to support it) ... It's considering income of "$440" as stated on this site now.

If you hate taxes and probably have some tint of crime in your history you'll feel rather good in virtually any city of Ukraine and especially in Odesa.

PS For those "patriots" who think that I might be affiliated somehow with Modern Moscow Empire(aka Russia), you're wrong. I born and lived here and now in my mid 20s I just made my conclusions about what is going on. And yeah, sure, I'd like to leave this place for better, WIP.

Once visitors leave the glittering square and go just a few blocks from it things go downhill rapidly safely wise. But even the more upscale areas of Odessa can and are extremely dangerous at times. Every city has dangerous parts but Odessa is over the top.Fortunately we travel in a group of four and always have. We noticed there are spotters via phone letting others know what we're wearing and what areas we are in. We are normally spread out but stay within eyeshot of each other.Keeping alcohol to a minimum and constantly being aware of our surroundings is the key to our safety. One rule of thumb at any bar or club is to sit at the bar ordering a drink and never sit at a table with a server bringing drinks. There's a high risk of getting drugged drinks.Other setups are someone in front of you dropping a personal item then the person behind them picking it up and giving it back to them. A split second off guard can result in items stolen from you. Never keep valuables in any room at a hotel in a safe or locked in any hotel reception area for this reason. The staff can open anything. This happens in any big cities quite often.Just remember there are spotters at every airport in any big city so it's a never ending cycle. The spotters make money preying upon unsuspecting visitors then split the money. If anyone walks up to you on the street and starts talking to you asking questions then big red flags. They want to gain your trust even with smalltalk which normally results in getting robbed during your stay or worse things possibly.

The Odessa police are corrupt criminals the traumatic weapon mentioned by the person Jun 2 2020 was most likely a weapon police use since they're the only ones who can get those weapons.

Odessa could be considered one of the most dangerous cities in Eastern Europe . It is official criminal capital of Ukraine.Ironically, inhabitants very proud of their city's criminal reputation in the beginning of 20th century. Criminal Odessa Tour very popular- https://greentourua.com/tours/private-criminal-odessa-tour/ You can see police and national guards patrolling high tourist areas, but it doesn't stop offenders. When you using your cell phone on the street you are potential target for dangerous knife robbery. They will sell your phone immediately in pawn shop. I think nearly any area of this city can be particularly risky if you don't use your head.
