Unfortunately, I believe it is impossible to live in Riyadh as a single female. The primitive, backwards legal system and absolute monarchy prevent free movement of women throughout the country. Sorry for the bad news.

#Saleem on Jul 11, 2013 :
Hello Ramesh,
The mentioned salary offered to you is not up to Saudi standard. For your qualification and experience it should be far higher. But pursuing higher position, hike in salary etc are much easier in Saudi compared to other countries. Simply, if you can prove it, you can grab it. Regarding 'no life' statement by somebody, remember millions of foreigners are living their life for quite so long with all peace of mind.. good luck.
#Saleem on Jul 11, 2013 :
If you are asking about living costs, it is very reasonable and to the quality of food, it is very reliable since it is supervised strictly. And, if you are particular about liquor, girls and night life, it is not a place at all (you may avail them at high risks. After all, it is a better place for those who want to save the money they earn.BR/
#Vincent on Jun 26, 2013 :
Mr.Ramesh, having 19 years experience my best friendly suggestion for you is, please do not try to come to Saudi because there is no life at all, only money which is no use without no life, peace of mind.
#Ramesh on Jun 12, 2013 :
Hi Friends,

im qualified CA with 5 yrs experience in finance, accounts & costing and got offer in Riyadh, Saudi in costing division and salary being offerd per month is 7500 SR(basic)+accomodation+transportation-700+bonus as per comany policy... No food allowances...

Is the offer i got in Saudi is with reasonable salary. How much would i need to spend out of my basic 7000 SR (other then accomodation & transportation)How much could be approxmately i shall spend for food in a month. My standard of living is medium and simple. is 700 transport enough assuming i shall travel 30 mins to reach office daily.

Approxmately how much in total i can save in a month.

Your information will be highly appreciated.

Thank u so much.

Please help me in taking decission in choosing this better offer.
#Ashesbonex on Jun 05, 2013 :
Other than Liquor's and Pork which is not good to your health and not allowed in Riyadh.

Most of the gadgets and boys toys like car's,mobile phones and computers are extremely cheap since there's no taxes.

Most of all you can drive all day and all night GAS is not a problem because 1 litre gas(0.65 Sar) is cheaper than 1 can 300ml of pepsi (1.50 Sar)

I am applying AL DAFFA Company Riyadh, is it enough for a Monthly SALARY of 1,700 + 300 food allowance?

Your monthly salary is ok if your company will housing and transportation.

Thus this salary is good enough maybe 5 years ago. Even food nowadays are expensive. Better refuse that job offer if you want more. :)

Is not possible to purchase beer, wine or other type of alcohol.
Some services such are public transportation are not developed and I'm only doing reference to Taxi, where you have to negotiate the price without a counter. The prices give are my estimations but are more or less accurate.

As well you will be impressed by the price of petrol, but some advantage should have the people living in this country.

#Duxe Sexton on Sep 13, 2011 :
Gentlemen,

I was recently going through the Cost of Living pages for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and found a glaring error that is so huge it's throwing off its whole index.

Under Markets, some idiot has entered that a mid-priced Bottle of Wine costs $375.00 USD.

Wine is not legally available in Saudi Arabia. In fact, any alcohol in Saudi Arabia is completely illegal, and is not sold in any store or market. So if this is true, this actually reflects the price you might pay some 'drug pusher' down at the street corner; not the price in the supermarket. Were this to stand, you might as well add a new entry for the cost of a gram of heroin in any given city.

Instead, the price should probably be adjusted to $0.00, or the fields for wine and beer programmed within the page so that they cannot be edited.

As it stands, I'm trying to get an accurate read on the Cost of Living in Riyadh, as compared to other cities. However, this one error is so huge that it is completely skewing the whole index, and making the entire city comparison useless.

Thanks so much in advance for correcting this error. I look forward to seeing the actual Cost of Living index, once the correct data is compiled.
