Caroline Bortoncello Sardinia is maybe the worst place to get a job in Italy. The whole country is collapsing but Sardinia has a crazy unemployment rate and most of the young ppl move away. It's a place for rich ppl.
#Caroline Bortoncello on May 09, 2016 :
I am interested in moving to Italy. I was wandering if Sardinia is a good place to find a job, since they are very tourist oriented place, Thanks

According to INSTAT, in 2014 the average procapite net income in Italy was 17500€ per year. In Rome was about 18400€ per year.
These numbers are not confirmed by another survey commissioned by Bankitalia: 19386€ per year.
However, the real net income is higher, according to the overall taxation paid by the italians. In 2014, the average net income was 20300€ per year.

In Italy the average net wage is 2033 € as reported by ISTAT.The rest are just opininions. These are just median numbers, nothing else.
#Cesare Augusto on Aug 26, 2015 :
in Italy there are always at least 13 salaries a year, that's the net income split by 12 and is trustable.

Many engineers don't make more than 1500/1700 EUR and so they leave for other countries especially due to cost of living compared to the wages.

Mind also that Rome in Italy, as Berlin in Germany, for standard of living (wages compared to cost of living) is not considered among the wealthiest in the country, people struggle more than in Modena, Trento, Bologna, ...
#Marco on Jul 30, 2015 :
Real net average mean wage in Italy are much higher.According to ISTST it's 2033 €.This is just the median one.

I'm considering moving to Rome by august 2016 and need advise about the income and outcome of an average month and if the job market it high enabling me to get into employment as soon as possible. I would be travelling and living alone and I have spotted an apartment located a few minutes away from Vatican City with the rent standing at €500 per month I need experienced advise to inform with if this is suitable and what the living expenses would be like with the rent standing at this price and I would probably only be able to get and english speaking job which may just lead to being a receptionist.

OMG - you people are so ANNOYING!!! The figures above are NOT OFFICIAL STATISTICS!!! They are provided by the SITE USERS - the people who come to find & SHARE information! For example, I lived in NYC, so I input data related to MY life, MY expenses in NYC & they were added to the model for NYC. They're not meant to be statistical factual reality to be used for governmental purposes. They're just people trying to share an idea of what it is like to live in a place with others who don't know.

That's why it states: "These data are based on 1049 entries in the past 18 months from 142 different contributors."

Italy is a wonderful country for its beauty, food, weather and people. I have been living here since 1997. I am an English teacher self-employed after working for many schools in Rome. I bought a house in the center. I must admit I was very lucky since it didn't cost me much. I come from toronto. I also love toronto but I've always long for living day-by-day enjoying life. If you understand what I mean this is the place for you. Rome will always be Caput mundi.

I don't know about this site or about you guys but where we used to live (northern tuscany) an average person wouldn't earn more than 1300 EURO net, my sister that works for the mail -Poste Italiane- earns no more than 1200 Euro per month, after the salary you have to pay house bills + - 230 euro and other expenses after that.
#Carlo on Mar 06, 2015 :
As i can see for many places in this sites they misunderstand average wage with median wage.In Italy,France and so on they publish nubers with median wages.Distribution of wages is totally different in the most developed countries from less developed countries.
#Rita81 on Feb 27, 2015 :
Yes it's true, these data about italian wages are totally wrong if compared to the ISTAT average net wage last month was around 1930 €.GDP this quarter is growing and also wages will grow much more than in the past. Here it seems to read Italy 30 years ago.
#Romano75 on Feb 21, 2015 :
Average salary is definitely higher than the one in this site. I'm 38 and I have a net income of 2.100 € (after tax) and the most of my friends are on the same range of salary.
#Claudio on Feb 13, 2015 :
The average net salary according to ISTAT in Italy in 2015 is 1923 €.GDP since this quarter is growing and taxes are steady around 44%.How can the low ?In this site is considered just 1511€.Where did they find these numbers? There something wrong in this site.

This place is amazing . I will forever be here. I eat very good and live better than americans. I love this place, I just married an italian woman who her name is Luiga from Putanga Italia. She is very good to me and my friends. she always visits many men but she tells me that I am very special to her. We live very comofortable and enjoy our time looking at kamasutra magazines all day. I love it here. I love it here. today we are going to visit some guy that needs some special service done inside his house. My wife sais i cannot leave the car, so I must stay in the car while she does her service. I dont know what she means but she sais its what every man loves and its for our own good. I truly trust her in every way. she is also handling our finances . Looking only at prices will ignore quality. In Italy you'll get far better food quality than in most European countries, at least for standard products and prices (of course you can get any quality in any big city if you are prepared to pay high prices and go to deli shops). Also Italians tend to spend much on food in restaurants, but the quality of the average Italian restaurant is not comparable (far better) to that of the average German (for instance) restaurant...
