Hi - I was in Aarhus for a month. 20,000 DKK will just allow you to make ends meet. Saving potential will be very low. The country and city loves biking, as everyone bikes even an 80 year old.

Generally the expenses are high, especially the rent. Buying a car is tough unless you go for an old 10 year old 2nd hand. Transportation within 10 miles from main city is great, but outside of that can be tough to get around.

Taxes for foreigners will be lower then locals (42%) and can be even lower if you are in the country for few months to 1-2 years (30%). However you'll have cash flow issues initially unless you live really frugally.

Hi everyone,

I am offered a PhD position at Aarhus University with salary of about almost 20000 DKK after tax ... I am married with no children ... Can anyone guide me about living cost for a couple at Aarhus?
