For real prices in IRR, select usd then multiply it in 130,000 to calculate prices in Iranian Rial and multiply in 13,000 to calculate it in Iranian Toman.

hi , just wanted to mention that these prices for Tehran in dollar is different now , what you've written is for a year ago witch every dollar was 42000 rial , but now every dollar is 120000 rial .

Hi

Please note that most of the values of goods mentioned above are more or less based on govermental exchange rates ( excluding minor changes) . The iranian market/ or in other words cost of goods and daily living is very dependent to the cost of free market exchange rate.
Which as of today : euro is roughly 140,000 IRR, regardless of daily ups and downs on exchange rates, it can be concluded to raise cost of goods/expenses by 2 to 3 times. Often exported goods are expected to raise in price by 3 to 5 times. Inflation has heavily affected the above mentioned figures in this page.

hey Kaus, Here we have two rates for currency; that 1$ = 42000 IRR is determined by the government for certain stuff like traveling abroad, some importation,etc. but in the real market and for everyday use, it's much higher. right now 1$ equals to 130000 IRR and it may change in every second :/ so you may want to consider visiting another country :( although, by the way, Iran is beautiful and people are kind & nice to visitors, if not to themselves :)

I'm originally from Tehran, born and grew up here, all the above prices are 95% correct, some people commented that Iran is cheapest country, yes they are right, Iran has massive resources of oil& Gas .... but because of mismanagement with illiterate & thieves managers it's turning to ashes, the main problem is fanatic Mollas who rule the country and majority of them are spy agent, they are so nosy and intrusive to all part of individual's life, they ruined our country, the corruption rate is really high among the government and policies, the first Daesh group who appeared in middle east region was Iranian government when they could control country for about 40 years ago, they began banning drinking alcohol, wearing Jeans, demolishing the discos & bars, brothel, forcing Hijab, arrest girl& boy dating, unfair execution and etc , for this reasons lot's of people immigrated to other countries and this process continues until now. When enter to Iran you will encounter with extremely hypocritical people that pretend are really religious but in fact they are full of duplicity and cheating and busy to lure public wealth( not all Iranian ). Iran is rich but not for it's own people and after new embargo against Iran in 2018 the national currency devaluation occurred and all prices became triple and lead people toward poverty line,the severe economic recession is carrying out .Generally Iranian people are kind and welcome to tourists and if you interested to see country you are welcome

I am planning to visit Iran in January. I have a query..the last post from Raam on Sep 24, 2018 says the USD = 1500000 IRR. How's that? Forex websites show 1 USD = 42500 IRR!
So which one is correct?

I've been leaving in Tehran since 1998 and these prices in USD are baised on 1USD=42000IRR which is wrong. In fact each US Dollar is more expensive that and I sure you each USD can change with 150000 IRR in this day (September 24th) then Tehran is cheapest metropolis (chief-city) and Iran is cheapest country in the world.

USD prices are far from accurate. current USD/IRR ratio is about 100,000 while this site is still calculating with 43,000!!!!!!!

Most of the prices listed here are way off. specially those related to properties. Rent and buy apartment price is not even any close to reality.

There is a huge price gap for rentals in different parts of Tehran. If you are looking for apartment/condo in northern Tehran, you’re not going to find anything less than $1000 for a 1 bedroom apartment. But if you are more inclined to live in poluted middle or southern Tehran, you can easily rent a 2 bedroom apartment for $200 or less!

I believe that, though the prices are not accurate, they can give a quick and overall view to a visitor, as you can see the prices for gasoline, taxi, restaurants are generally near to true. Most of you nagged about only the internet, well forget this stuff and why not talking about the other prices which have been collected almost true.

After all, nowhere in the world you will find house renting fixed and agreed upon on a unique price. Let's admit that some prices are really tricky and you need to move there and see it for yourself, but taking these prices into account as a ballpark figure I reckon "numbeo.com" has done really a Good Job ! first of all hi,
as an Iranian living in Iran i should say : what i read up there is not all true ... 10mbps ADSL ? you gotta be kidding me right ? i have 2mbps internet it doesn't look like a 2mbps because my internet would hit the 800kbs in top/free time with less bustle, how could someone say Iran have 10mbps ADSL ? Iran's real Internet speed is 4mbps at least, i did my research on this one. though the expenses are not fully true a tourist should've spend at least 5000$~7000$ for 10 days enjoyable travel to Iran not sure who much it'll cost for a University student ... i don't wanna talk about buying house or apartment in Tehran because anything i say would be considered as betraying to your own country ... in all and all those numbers up there should change.

This is a big mistake ,The cost is much higher in Iran, Annual Rent in tehran is between $ 500 to $ 3,000 , but you need a big mortgageabout $5000 to $20000 ,Wage of a worker in tehran In the best of circumstances is between $200 to $350

hi i live in tehran since 4 years, the thing you are looking for is impossible, you cant find a rent for 100$, unless you pay a big mortgage, in north tehran for example: a 50 m2 unfurnished, you will need about 20000$ as a mortgage and 200$ per month, but since your studying in tehran university you will to get a house in the center of tehran, it is a little bit cheaper but not that much. i blieve taking the unuversity offer is better for you. For living you will need 200$- 250$/month at least (for an acceptable life) depending on you how much you go out. you ma find some houses in the university area (60-80 m2) with low or no mortgage but not less than 400$/moth (if it is founded).

real cost of living in Tehran:
The major Cost is Rent: City center rent is lower than Outside of City center because of traffic, population, pollution,etc.... For 100 Sq meter in city center 500$ up to 800$ Monthly. for Outside of City center from 600$ up to 1800$ !!! (depends on the quality of the apartment and which part of city).
IF you leave in a Washington dc and you expend 45.000$ net/year to keep the same level of living in Tehran you need between 32-35000$ net(depends on your rent).
If you leave in Paris and you earn 40000 euro net/year you need about 30000 euro net to keep your level of life in Tehran.
Remember we are talking about the average cost of living for 2 adults, if you have kids please add at least 500$ (for each kid) monthly (school, other costs).
If you are used to travel 1 or twice year (outside country) add the travel cost to your expenses.
Cars are expensive in Tehran, triple the price of any car in europe/usa and you can buy any car in Tehran.
If you want to buy new build Apartment outside of center the price is from 1400$ up to 8000$ per Sq/meter !!! the average is about 2000$/sqm.
Rent in other cities are 25% up to 60% less than tehran.

I heard that only consumption of non-alcoholic beer is allowed in Iran. But what exactly does that mean? Must the beer contain 0,0 % alcohol or is 0,5 % okay? I ask because in other countries non-alcoholic means less than 0,5%... A friend told me that the beer usually comes in flavors like peach or lemon, is this true? What are the common brands ?

There are certain places in Tehran which rent goes as high as $5000 a month (i.e, Ekbatan, shahrak gharb, saadat abad) and there are places which rent is $300+ (i.e pasdaran, poonak, tajrish) and there places where rent is as low as $150 (i.e south ferdosi street which is the heart and center of Tehran and mid class).
There are even places where rent is maximum $100, but those places are the south of tehran and may or may not come to your taste.

Always get a reliable citizen(not an agent who will double the rent for foreigners!), to get your rental contract done. ( or do it yourself if you know persian).

You can ultimately find some nice one on streets to bring you around, since iranian people really love alliens and take time for them. Trust me.

Who says Tehran is more expensive than north America. I am from Toronto, Canada, and finding a one bedroom apartment in the suburbs is around 1300$ and downtown 1600. Gas is expensive, phone plans are expensive and the apartments are horrible by western standards. Tehran is quite crowded though and dangerous so I prefer Esfahan.

10 Mbps internet with unlimited data was never less than 900$. Those ISPs who claim they sell this much, are liars and never you experience 10 Mbps (1,25 MBps).

The Domestic Non-Alcoholic Beer is not that high. It is actually Delster that is very inexpensive and about 0.3$ per 0.5Litre.
