Comparing the utility bills of an 85m2 between say Porto and London is stupid. Simply because in Porto people don't normally warm up their houses to the temperature that is normal in UK homes. Meaning, families go cold, or hot, whatever the month may be. Please compare the cost of a unit of electricity - or even better the cost of the amount of electricity or gas a UK household uses expressed at the cost electricity has in Portugal - and you'll see a very different story.
Also, another key factor, tax in Portugal is TWICE the level of tax in the UK - percentage applied on salary is just TWICE. So if you were to get 38% less in your base salary, you'd be paying so much more tax for that so you'd actually be getting less than half your current salary in Portugal.
Finally, prices of houses and rents are in a huge boom in Porto. Must update those numbers all the time too.
So, 6Mbps, internet only costs an average 5€.
