The perception of feeling at risk may be high, but the actuality is very low. We said for five nights and walked in the center and outskirts every night. We had and saw no problems at all.

There is a difference between Malaga Province and Capital because Province has its borders to Gibraltar and by the way Cannabis is not really considered a drug in Malaga Capital the consumption and is partly legalized in so called clubs. Just like with alcohol its a drug but its culturally accepted here.

It's Impossible that using or dealing drugs is Low when Malaga is pretty much the narco capital of Spain along with Valencia or maybe Barcelona

I have been the first time in Malaga in 1979 and every few years thereafter. Last year in November with my 81 year old mother. We stayed in the town center and walked the straits from morning til late at night. We never seen any problem and felt very safe in the area around the cathedral, the harbor and all the attractions. We even went to El Pimpi until late at night 3 days in a row and never seen or heard anything suspicious. I love Malaga and the Costa del Sol.
