Lol just don’t go to the northern parts of the city! The city center is just like any other big city. I’ve been living in Marseille for 2 years now and haven’t made any bad experiences.

Crime index should be in red, not in yellow. This city is completely unsafe. One cannot walk down the street without getting attacked.

Sketchiest city I've ever been too. My friend had a phone robbed from his hand on the first day, second night after leaving a bar we were surrounded by a huge group of street muggers holding knives. My watch was stolen and we were lucky to escape in a taxi, it could have been far worse. There is a feeling in Marseille that you are always being watched as a tourist. The more tuned in to it you are, the more you notice it. If you visit, keep your wits about you, keep valuables firmly out of site, keep your phone in your pocket and try and avoid getting too intoxicated you become a very clear target.

Its a great city in lots of ways, very unique, but it is very dangerous. We had to file a police report and were told by the police 'Marseille is like Gotham City' and 'If I'm on duty and I need to look at my phone, I keep one hand on my gun'.

Went to Marseille for 2 days, arabs attempted to mug and stab me and my friend 3 times during the 2 days, all 3 happened during daytime. After the first assault I called the police and they said they won't come if I am not injured... the next two times I didn't bother calling the police but I was better prepared and ran away quickly after the 2nd and 3rd attempted assaults. Stay away from Marseille, it is probably the most dangerous city in Europe, not worth risking your life.

Got my watch stolen today. I was sitting at the hotel terrace with my wife and 2 girls. These 2 middle eastern guys approached asking something. The next second they grabbed my arm and took my watch and ran. I chased them but around the corner there were 2 guys blocking me saying “what happened? What happened?” This is organized crime. The police would not come to my hotel. They told me to come there tomorrow. I won’t go. I don’t wanna waste my time with them.
People. Don’t come here. They are watching you. Do not put yourself in danger for a city actually nothing to see.

I lived in malmo when i was til the age 14 and i have lived in North Marseille for 3 years right now. When it comes to robbing people in Marseille is way worse But when it comes to other crimes like shooting bombing Sweden has way more crimes of those. All done and said both of them are horrible places to live

Marseille seems to be the worst place we have visisted. Our car was opened and bags, money, passports and more were stolen. And we were there for a few hours. We have never experienced anything like this. For example we have been to Berlin more than 20 times and often for a week or more. Never any kind of problem with car, bags or the like. Same with even Karlsbad, Hamburg, Paris. Bruxelles.
And the Police in Aix de Provence almost laughed at us being mugged i Marseille. So normal they said. Never go there again. Lyon has a terrible reputation as well. If you want tourist, keep crime down!!! Never going back.
