Crime in Cairo, Egypt

I spent 5 years in Cairo, for college and studies. I lived in downtown (Talaat harb) which is supposedly the most guarded and well protected place in Cairo since its next to tahrir square. On my last week, I was attacked and robbed of my place of living, possession's and passport in my own home! and yes the perpetrators seized control of the apartment and claimed it was theirs. The police did nothing, I spent an additional 3 more months in Cairo between courts and police stations. I was advised by my own embassy to get a new passport and leave the country. I had about 4000$ in cash, my laptop with all my research work, my phone, my documents. All gone within a fortnight. You never understand people until you experience the dark side yourself. The judicial system is so weak and has so many loopholes for criminals to exploit. Egypt has serious problems and is dangerous. I eventually left the country with a new passport and nothing else but sorrow, pain and a massive disappointment. Five glorious years ended with the worst experience in my lifetime so far. I will never go back.
