Contrary to fearmongering, no mention of Colombia.

All the parts of Bogota include santa fe, Kennedy, san Cristobal, ciudad Bolivar and suba are extremely dangerous because of slum poverty

I've lived in Bogotá my entire life. While it has several positives, they are vastly overwhelmed by the negatives.

Violent crime is a very, VERY serious problem. I try not to leave my apartment at all other than to do just the absolutely necessary. Leaving at night is an immediate death sentence. During the day, it's better but still extremely dangerous. People will shoot you, stab you, or do God knows what to steal your phone. This is without mentioning terrorist attacks by different rebel groups in Colombia, but that's a whole other topic.

Overall, being in Bogotá feels more like surviving against all odds than actually living a decent, safe, and bearable life.

Ĺost my phone in a taxi and spent 2 hours on Saturday night walking around bosa trying to find my hotel, was terrified and don't speak Spanish but made it back eventually with no problems

Just got robbed at 17:15 - one of the best neighborhoods as well. Many people on street. Couldn’t believe it. Help from nobody. People won’t even stop to ask you how are you. Police was reluctant / lazy to do police report. Had to push them. Not that this will lead to anything. Sad place. Some good people in there as well. Current mayor is very weak.

This city is a shithole, in fact the entire Latin America is. If you want to get robbed by gunpoint and potentially shot for a few bucks would recommend, however if you enjoy living I would best avoid most countries in Latin America (Brazil, Colombia, Mexico(Maybe), Venezuela) all these countries have degenerates who will easily shoot you in the head for a phone. They have no appreciation for life and don't realise how valuable it is, to be honest I find it funny how people say it's 'kind of' safe just look at the crime it speaks for itself.

Street crime is escalating. My wife and I escaped an armed robbery by 4 men on 2 motorcycles on a "safe" residential street 4 doors down from home at 5:15 pm (still light outside). I've been to Bogota many times since 2013 and this is the first incident. It's getting worse. Remember, it's a big city with bigcity problems. There are no safe neighborhoods.

This city is a sh*thole. I'm colombian myself and have been living here for a while now, though I have also lived in Europe. And let me tell you, this place is a nightmare if you're considering on moving here. Only if you're travelling it can be an OK experience. And for those that are telling you that Bogota isn't that bad, don't trust them. They're already used to living in constant fear of getting mugged or stabbed. Just to give you an example, there's no nightlife here apart from Zona Rosa and that's it. Don't waste your time here.
