I've lived downtown for a decade and it has been steadily degrading, mostly due to fentanyl and meth as far as I can tell. Like in many North American cities, the failure to address the problem effectively has created some pretty sketchy environments which expanded significantly during the lockdown/segregation period of 2020-2022. As a man, I still find it pretty safe to walk around so long as you keep your eyes open for trouble. The river valley and parks are quite enjoyable in the summer, and if you're willing to go to the rougher areas, you may be rewarded with some very tasty and inexpensive ethnic food.

It's too dangerous. Eastern Europe is much safer.

They are strung out on xanax benzo and dont care. The whole scene is outcast. Poor self inflicted despair.

Accept how it is and move forward. The pharmacy started these addictions. What do they get paid to maintain and treat them?

What is the answer?

The crime stats don’t look alarming but based on the eye test things are getting worse. Downtown at night is a third world country.. eventually we need to vote someone in with the stomach to crack down on crime.

#Brian Thompson that goes for most places in Canada and the states but I do agree with you we do have a very bad drug problem.

its like having a city made out of bullies. Also once, I arrive downtown on a pretty casual street and got flipped off right away from a pedestrian walking far from me.
